CJ'ers Share Their WFH Spaces: Volume Three

May 22, 2020
Written by CJ

We were today years old when we found out that the second to last Friday in May (May 22) is National WFH Day.

In honor of this very important holiday that may have been (rightfully) invented this year, we bring you the third and final installment of our WFH series. Curious to know where we're working these days? CJ'ers across our global offices were kind enough to share one last peek.

Kaleesha Rajamantri & Sehr Gunawardena, Client Development, London, England

Kaleesha Rajamantri_Sehr Gunawardena WFH v2

We’re CJ colleagues, flatmates and friends from real life and we’ve ironed out the kinks of WFH…literally.

If you could describe your WFH self in ONE WORD, what would it be? Kaleesha: Over-caffeinated. Sehr: (Jigsaw) Puzzled.

Tell us more about what your "set-up" looks like! Kitchen, lounge, bedroom, balcony, floor, ironing board.

What's the best part about working from home? We each have a built-in colleague, so office banter continues!

Any WFH challenges? How do you deal with them? Wi-Fi struggles. We deal by channeling our inner Skee-Lo and singing an adapted version of "I Wish". 🎵 “I wish Wi-Fi was a little bit stronger…”🎵

What's your favorite WFH snack? Kaleesha: Classed up cheese and crackers ft. goat cheese and fig jam. Sehr: Ice cream. I’ve already finished two tubs!

Any funny or embarrassing WFH anecdotes you're willing to share? Caught off guard in the background of each other's video calls in questionable PJs.

Kat Rymer, Sr. Client Development Manager, Agency Solutions, Santa Barbara, CA

If you could describe your WFH self in ONE WORD, what would it be? Sweatpants.

Any WFH challenges? How do you deal with them? Our chicken, Dilly, occasionally likes to make pterodactyl noises. Sometimes I get in the backyard and throw her a snack before client calls!

How do you spend your lunch break? I try to spend my lunches with Cody Rigsby on my Peloton, or I take a quick walk with our pup, Shandy.

What's your favorite WFH snack? String Cheese FTW!

What's one thing you now know you took for granted about working in an office? Avanti Market.  Miss you, boo.

Heather Pilat, VP, Finance, Westborough, MA

If you could describe your WFH self in ONE WORD, what would it be? Obsessive.

What does a typical WFH day look like for you? Do you have a set routine that helps you focus? I log in between 8/8:30 am, break for lunch, take a 5 pm walk outside, break for dinner, and try to log off by 7 pm.

Any WFH challenges? How do you deal with them? Now that I don't have a commute, I'm missing my decompression time from work to home.

How do you spend your lunch break? I try to eat with the kids.

What's one thing that brightens your day while working from home? Getting to work in my workout clothes!

Ed Blane, Client Integration Engineer Manager, London, England

Edward Blane WFH

If you could describe your WFH self in ONE WORD, what would it be? Pragmatic.

Tell us more about what your "set-up" looks like! I have a set place but I move my setup from one room to the main room each day so I can see the outside world.

What's the best part about working from home? Getting up late. No more checking the clock thinking I have to be up soon.

What's your favorite WFH snack? Tea and biscuits.

Any funny or embarrassing WFH anecdotes you're willing to share? One morning I got my usual set up going, put it all together, logged in, and then realized it was Saturday.

Camy Gehrke, Sr. Client Development Director, San Francisco, CA

Camy Gehrke WFH

If you could describe your WFH self in ONE WORD, what would it be? Comfortable.

What does a typical WFH day look like for you? Do you have a set routine that helps you focus? As a new mom, my time is really tight right now. I spend my early mornings and evenings with my son, and I power through the day. I'm more efficient with my time than ever before. What keeps me focused is knowing that I need to get my work done so I have a few extra minutes with my son every day.

Tell us more about what your "set-up" looks like! My office area is currently in our living room :) My set-up is nothing too fancy, but I feel I have everything I need, including two monitors.

What's your favorite WFH snack? Nutella.

Any WFH challenges? How do you deal with them? The kitchen is too close to my office space. It's very easy to want to eat more Nutella! Help!

Kristen Falkengren, Client Development Manager, Westborough, MA

Kristen Falkengren WFH

If you could describe your WFH self in ONE WORD, what would it be? Adaptable.

What does a typical WFH day look like for you? Do you have a set routine that helps you focus? I have been doing my best to stick to my normal routines in a modified way. Each day I wake up and either take my sister's dog for a walk or go for a run and then I come back and do a home workout. From there I work at my dining room table for the day and then after work it's usually another walk to get fresh air and cooking dinner.

Tell us more about what your "set-up" looks like! For the most part I have been sitting at the family dining room table, but once in a while I change it up to the couch. I'm waiting for the warmer weather so I can sit outside for a few hours too!

What's your favorite WFH snack? Cheez-Its

What's one thing you now know you took for granted about working in an office? Having the ability to turn around and talk to one of my co-workers face to face.

What's one thing that brightens your day while working from home? Sunshine!

Sandrine Thompson, Strategic Insights Director, Santa Barbara, CA

Sandrine Thompson WFH

If you could describe your WFH self in ONE WORD, what would it be? Multi-tasker.

What does a typical WFH day look like for you? Do you have a set routine that helps you focus? Now that we know we're in this for many weeks, we've established a schedule that closely mirrors a typical school day. It helps our two boys stay on track with learning by taking time out for breaks. So when they need a "recess", I take one too. Turns out to be a good strategy even for adults! I always come back refreshed and able to focus better for a few more hours.

What's the best part about working from home? Listening to all the birds singing in our yard. It's a symphony every day!

How do you spend your lunch break? I've been taking our dogs on a short walk before sitting down and eating lunch in our back yard. I listen to the birds and feel happy and appreciative to have this area to be in during the shelter in place directives.

What's your favorite WFH snack? White cheddar popcorn.

What's one thing that brightens your day while working from home? Hopping on calls with my team!

Jules Bazley, Regional VP, London, England

Jules Bazley WFH

If you could describe your WFH self in ONE WORD, what would it be? Liberating.

Tell us more about what your "set-up" looks like! I have a workspace and desk with a dock and two screens (all plugged in to an insane sound system).

What's the best part about working from home? I save three to four hours a day with no commute.

Any WFH challenges? How do you deal with them? My dog wants to be involved in conference calls. He plays a cameo role sometimes.

How do you spend your lunch break? In the garden enjoying the sun or shooting hoops with my kids.

Lika Walker, Director, Content Marketing, Ventura, CA

Lika Walker WFH

If you could describe your WFH self in ONE WORD, what would it be? Grateful.

Tell us more about what your "set-up" looks like! Fortunately, I already worked from home sometimes, so I have a nice little set up, complete with a collage of pics of my favorite things to keep me smiling throughout the day.

What's the best part about working from home? Hands down, my dogs.

Any WFH challenges? How do you deal with them? ALSO my dogs. They bark at any/all delivery people, which there are more of these days. Luckily, we have a backyard, so they hang out there during most meetings.

What's one tip that you'd share with others who are working from home for the first time? As much as you can, set a standard start and end to your day. It's so easy to just roll right into working. Do something for yourself first, then get into work mode. Then make sure to unplug when you're done.

What's one thing that brightens your day while working from home? Literally the sunshine through my window near my home workspace, something I do not have in the actual office!

Kim Jackson, Client Development Director, Westborough, MA

Kim Jackson WFHIf you could describe your WFH self in ONE WORD, what would it be? Pragmatic.

What does a typical WFH day look like for you? Do you have a set routine that helps you focus? I have a couple of cups of coffee before I head downstairs to my office and Skype with my BFF and co-worker, Jillian Marble, to kick start our day for about 15-20 minutes.

Tell us more about what your "set-up" looks like! I have an office downstairs with a desk, printer, monitor, etc. My home gym is right next to me if I get the urge to go for walk or pump some iron.

What's the best part about working from home? Having time for a workout and being able to make dinner for the family at a reasonable time every day.

What's one thing you now know you took for granted about working in an office? Face-to-face adult conversations with someone other than my husband.

What's one thing that brightens your day while working from home? Seeing my teenage girls laughing and hanging out because they have nowhere else to go…LOL.
